And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. -Hebrews 10:24-25
A churchgoer is not meant just to go to Manassas Baptist Church on days of obligation. Perhaps you’re still finding your way and where you feel called to serve, and that’s fine. But don’t let it take years of your life to figure out. Attending church is a blessing, and serving in any ministry is vital, no matter what you’re doing. And it’s not about feeling good or better about yourself; getting involved with church is just about desiring to serve God and His people.
Serving in a Baptist Church increases one’s faith
Through serving, God gave me a front row seat to seeing Him change people’s lives. That sounds a bit dramatic, but it’s true. One way to increase your faith is to read the Word of God (the Bible). Romans 10:17 says, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message (the Word or the Bible), and the message is heard through the word about Christ.“ That word about Christ is the Bible. This means that faith comes from hearing the message at church from your pastor or teachers, during Bible studies, and reading your Bible. Paul says that “the message is heard through the word about Christ.” Since Christ is the Word of God (John 1:1) and the Word of God is Christ, reading the Bible is a great way to increase your faith.
Serving in the Baptist Church Helps Us See and Experience What You’re Made For
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:1-2
It is by service that you will learn how to truly serve. When you are engaged in the service of your fellowmen, not only do you serve them but you serve because it is the will of God. You’ve heard it before: The Gospels only record one prayer request from our Lord Jesus. “Pray for laborers!” If you are not already involved, somebody somewhere is praying for you to become involved in the ministry. The need is greater than ever. The fields are whiter than ever. Laborers are as relatively few as ever.
In many congregations today church membership includes little more than a member showing up for church services every-once-a-while and contributing money to the church’s treasury. While both of these are important, the Lord expects His children to contribute more than their physical presence and a few dollars every week.He expects us to bear fruit (John 15:8) and He expects us to use our gifts in service in the church and in the community. This is why you need to feel strongly that 100% of the church ought to be involved in ministry/service in the local Manassas Baptist Church. Ministry or serving is a sign of spiritual maturity and a life focused on the full will of the Lord.
